Dr. Byrne-Jiménez is the Executive Director of the University Council for Educational Administration hosted at Michigan State University, President of the National Policy Board for Educational Administation, and Associate Professor in the department of Educational Administration K12. In that capacity she leads a consortium of higher education programs focused on high-quality leadership preparation, impactful research, and policy advocacy on issues that affect the school communities, educational leaders, and leadership faculty who the consortium serves.

Her scholarship focuses on Latinx identity and leadership, faculty diversity and doctoral student experiences, social justice program development, and the role of alternative epistemologies in research and leadership. Before becoming faculty, she worked in a number of urban settings in New York City, including a K-6 bilingual teacher, Even Start coordinator, and literacy instructional specialist. She was also the Associate Director of the Accelerated Schools Project while at Teachers College where she supported districts leading school improvement. She is coauthor of Developing Effective Principals Through Collaborative Inquiry. Her work has appeared in the Leadership and Policy in Schools Journal, Frontiers in Education, Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, Handbook of Urban Educational Leadership, Handbook of Research on Educational Leadership for Diversity and Equity, Handbook of Research on the Education of School Leaders, International Journal of Educational Research, International Journal of Leadership in Education, Journal of Latinos and Education, and Voices in Urban Education. Dr. Byrne-Jiménez holds a B.A. in Latin American Studies/Sociology from Columbia University, an M.A. in Educational Studies from the University of Michigan, and an Ed.D. in Education Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is former Vice President of Division A/Administration, Organization, and Leadership of the American Education Research Assocation (AERA), UCEA Past-President, Past-President of the Latino Alumni Association of Columbia University, and current Board President of the Community Training and Assistance Center.
